Can you get electricity from the air?

Probably no one wants to pay for electricity. No wonder people try to figure out ways to make electricity cheaper. And many people dream of so-called free electricity, that is, electricity that can be obtained without the slightest effort. They imagine, for example, bundling free ions in the air. But one has to wonder whether such a thing is really possible, despite current technological advances.

It is true that there are free electrons in the air. Especially in hot climates, the negative electrons stick to the ground, while the positive electrons stay in the upper atmosphere. When their concentration exceeds a certain limit, storms occur. It is not surprising that people wonder if this force can be somehow controlled.

However, this has proven impossible, at least under current conditions. The first problem is that there is not even a device capable of extracting the required amount of ions from the air. This makes the whole system very inefficient and ends up doing more work than it generates. In short, it is not worth it.

A related problem is the low concentration of ions in the atmosphere. Although people are largely unaware of this, the amount of ions actually present is negligible. Moreover, this concentration not only fluctuates throughout the year, but also with other factors such as temperature, humidity, and atmospheric pressure. Therefore, it is impossible to obtain the constant charge we need. In other words,

at this point, the dream of free electricity is really just a dream. The only thing that comes close is solar panels, and even those are not as efficient as we would like. We have no choice but to continue paying the power company, even if the price is exorbitant. Unfortunately, there are currently no other options that are technically feasible and less expensive, even though many people want them.
