Yes, the word fun is indeed derived from the word “enjoy.” The trouble is that not everyone has exactly the same opinion about it. For example, it is very hilarious to buy someone a drink or invite him to a soccer game, even though the other person is not the least bit interested in soccer. Out of courtesy or curiosity he will go, but he will probably be bored. He will also invite you to a philharmonic concert even though he knows very well that you hate philharmonic concerts and listen only to metal and rock. Miloslav Horníček and Miloš Kopecký used to talk about this. Of course, they thought in their own way. Unfortunately, this recording is probably no longer available.
Since I am not familiar with this pastime and the chatty pictures have long since been consigned to the scrap heap of private history, I cannot determine if it was televised again. It is a different kind of entertainment, and many people cannot do without television. I think everyone knows that. Lots of people talk about it, there are separate websites dedicated to it, and it\’s like there is no one without television. Well, but some people don\’t want to watch the incessant commercials. Nor do they need to watch series like “The Street” or “The Rose-colored Post Office”. When the whole nation is hunched over the device to see if blind Esmeralda has finally found her glasses, those without television would rather read a nice book or do something to entertain themselves again.
This, of course, means they learn nothing and cannot contribute to an educated discussion about relationships from a workplace soap opera. As noted above, everyone immediately thinks of the word entertainment as something that entertains them and not others. That is quite understandable. So, for example, when the weekend approaches, everyone is already preparing what they are going to do. Except when there is work that we don\’t want to do, but must be done. For example, it used to be like putting coal in the cellar. It certainly wasn\’t much fun. I still remember it. With a hand saw, not a chainsaw. It wasn\’t funny
