you live in a large house with a garden, a modern bungalow or an old apartment block, you may have had uninvited guests in the past. The mouse may be a cute little rodent, but few people want to share a bowl with one, if only because of the diseases mice can spread.
Getting rid of mice isn\’t usually that easy, though, because they\’re small and can get in through the slightest loophole. How to deal with them?
Keep them out
Don\’t leave the door to your garden open, seal up any places that a nosy rodent could get in through. Various gaps under doors and open spaces around pipes are popular. Also pay attention to the materials you use to seal these spaces. Popular mounting foam is not a big obstacle for mice and they can easily chew their way in.
Prevention
If you know that a mouse may move in with you as autumn approaches, make it as uncomfortable as possible. Get a mouse scarer, which can be bought for just a few hundred crowns. You can choose between electric or battery-powered „scarecrows“. Mice will also be repelled by certain scents, for example mint repellent is recommended.
Traps, snares
Yes, it\’s annoying. Fortunately, there are a large number of traps on the market today that can hopefully cope with weaker natures. Let\’s start with the classic wooden one. As with any other trap, the key here is a well-chosen location, so you have to observe where the mouse most often walks and then set the trap there. Use a piece of cheese, bacon or even chocolate as bait. If you want to keep up with the times, get an improved plastic or metal trap. And if you\’re of a weaker nature and want to let the mice live and then release them somewhere in the field, you can buy a house-shaped trap where the mice can crawl in through a small hole but never get back out. There are also various mouse poisons on the market, but these are not the best for the home, as even the best air freshener probably won\’t help if the mouse dies in a hidden place.
Professional help
If the above tips don\’t work, seek professional help, starting with one that can permanently remove mice from your apartment or house. If that doesn\’t work, you can seek a psychologist or psychiatrist, because sharing an apartment with rodents involuntarily is only for the hardened.
